Area Classification

Area Classification & Zoning

  • Zoning Determination: Risks associated with process facilities, pipelines, and accident records around the world indicate that safety precautions need to be taken to protect human and financial capital. Determining the area around facilities and pipelines with hazardous materials must be done carefully because if the safety area is chosen to be unnecessarily large, it will impose high costs and create problems for residents. Furthermore, determining the area regardless of the dangers of the complexes will cause some risks to the surrounding population.

  • Hazardous Area Classification (HAC): Classification of hazardous areas is defined as a protective layer against inevitable fire leakages. This protection is provided by removing the spark agent from the flammable material, reducing the chance of fire and explosion by decreasing the contact possibility of the flammable substance with the ignition source. The method used is the use of the IP15 reference and PHAST software to determine danger zones.
